10 quilt tops done!!

Wooo Hooo! The 10 quilt tops are pieced.  Putting aside as customer doesn't need until Christmas!  She is afraid she would pass out BEFORE Christmas.  Gonna help her out!  Started on the 20 memory pup/bears for another client.  5 are finished and are looking really cute!  Used the draw string in a pair of the "happy pants" as an "ear bow".  Happy pants are those pants with draw string or elastic in the waist that are comfy and make you happy!

Well, gotta go and add to the collection of pups & bears!  Until next time...Happy Quilting!

Update

The piecing of the 10 customer quilts is almost finished!  WoooHooo!!!  They should be in the frame in the next week or so!  The quilting will be just an ETE meander...have lots of buttons, snaps, loops, pleats & tucks to work around.  The ETE will be just right to go around all the texture on the blocks.  I will post pics of them soon!

Worked in some alterations for a great friend with some machine embroidery to digitize and stitch out for her hubby to have at his new school!  Go Warriors!

You know cooler weather is just around the corner when school is back in, football practice is going on and the band is out there practicing.   Things are really busy at the high school!  New students, new teachers, happy, excited seniors and catching up with several life long dear friends!

Well it's back to the machine!

Like Nancy says....10, 20, 30 minutes to sew!  Those few minutes snuck in do add up!

Until next time....A happy day is a day with quilting!

ETSY Shop

Well, ETSY shop up and running.  Lots of hits!  A few Convo's too!

Still working on my customers 10 memory quilts.  Have all the blocks pieced.  Most have the sashing attached!  Have the picture blocks printed, digitized & embroidery done!  All the sashings and conerstones are done.  Laying out the blocks to start the construction of the quilts has started.  Next will be the putting it all together!  Then the quilting will begin!!!

Having fun with these quilts!

Posted some ink art letters on ETSY.  These are on 4" x 6" watercolor paper.  Just some of my doodling with letters!

Eye Opening Experience

About a week ago, my best friend lost her very dear mother in law.  Marie was an avid crafter and quilter.  She left behind so many wonderful things.  I went with my friend Lois to help her go through Marie's things.  You will have to understand that Marie was a collector of many things crafty/quilty.  She was very frugal in what she kept.  She was from the old school where you saved everything.  You just might need it later on!  Lace from a pillow that wore out.  Frilly collar from a baby's batiste dress, embroidery from a pillow case.   I am sure she saved these precious things to give just that right touch on something new.  Some of these things were small in size, length.

In a way, I do the same.  My husband is always doing that eye roll, shake the head thing when I save the small stuff and bring in new stuff.  "You have so much already, and now you are bringing more in?  Maybe you need to use some of what you already have." He is trying to be kind about it. But, he is right.

After watching Lois yesterday, I realized I do have so much.  What am I going to do with that 3" piece of lace I took off of something that tore and was unfixable?  Put it in a drawer and maybe, just maybe, someday work on a project and say to myself, "I know I have just the right 3" piece of lace somewhere in this drawer that would work just great right here.  But where is it?"

I know that when I am gone, all my "stuff" will be here.  I now see what my family, (who are not quilters or crafters) will have to go through when they open up that drawer and find that perfect 3" piece of lace that was perfect for that project I was going to make.  I can hear them now..."What on earth was mama going to use this for?"

So this being said, from this day forward, I am going to shop my stash to make my projects.   I am sure I will still go buy a couple of yards of lace when I need that 3" piece I didn't keep!

When I got home, I did go through my Consumer Reports magazines from 10 years ago. Shredded my address on them and donated the magazines to the local elementary school for kids to work on their projects!  They are full of great pictures!  It is amazing how much space they take up on the book shelf!  Now I have room for more quilt magazines!

Happy Quilting!

Projects

Lord knows we all have those UFO's!  Of course I have added a few to my list!  Here are a couple new ones I am working on.

Started working on an applique quilt.  Have 4 blocks done.  Using the Sharon Schamber method of applique.  Working pretty well.  Still have the embroidery to do.  Thinking about using a gold metalic thread.

Hubbies new quilt. Blocks set at a wonky angle as hubby is kind of wonky himself!
BOM from Quazy Quilt Shop--local quilt shop in Weatherford, Texas.

New

Been thinking about this blogging thing.  Gonna give it a try!  I am a hand guided custom longarm quilter!  I love to create.  My studio is so full of fun stuff!!!

Currently I am working on 10 custom quilts for one customer!  Never done that many for one person at one time.  Almost done cutting out the 10 tops.

Blocks cut, pieced and ready for sashing

Sashing just waiting to be cut!!

Backing fabric arrived yesterday.  Woo Hoo!!

Inspiration to get the backing on the frame with the tops sooner than later.   Will keep you posted.
